Back from Feral! I got back from Feral! last night.
I had tons of fun there and got to meet a lot of furs I hadn't seen in person yet.
On Tuesday I went Hiking and went sailing for the first time.
On Wednessday I went hiking twice with different furs. We also had an interesting discussion at the lower campfire about what it meant to be a furry with one of the Arowhon staff.
And more sailing and some canoeing on Thursday. Also, on Thursday I got to sing some of the songs I learned for the camp. I think I found my singing voice. I wasn't cracking my voice and running out of breath. :P We spend the evening around the camp fire singing things with a lot of the Arowhon staff. I get the impression they really like our group. We really include them in all our activities and make them feel a part of us, I think.
I didn't do too many Feral! activities. Was mostly busy doing Arowhon stuff. Running around finding furs to do stuff with and then going out. I've gotten to know the trails there very well and was leading furs through them. There's a ton of stuff to do at Arowhon.
Being my fourth year, I've got a fair idea what's where and who does what and such at the camp and like to help so when I had nothing to do, I'd kinda float around and help furs find stuff and carry things back and fourth and such. I seem to like helping other furs with things more than just doing stuff myself.
I was cabin leader this year. I made sure we sorted out what rules we needed for the cabin and told everyone about the special cabins and I made sure the cabin was all in order when we left and brought everyone the stuff they left behind. Someone told me I was a good cabin leader.
Everyone got along very well there and saw very little trouble between people, which is what I hoped. Everyone should be there for the same reason: to have fun, so there's really no reason to fight about anything. Though I did hear a few people talk about some problems they had at home. They way I see it, there's an appropriate place for everything and when people are spending lots of money travelling somewhere to have fun and others are working hard to make sure that happens, fun is what everyone should be working on--and we should leave problems that have nothing to do with the event at home. This makes things better for everyone--including you. :)
Also, I think since it's my 4th visit to Arowhon, it's come to feel very much like a home away from home. I know the place very well. I know where everything is, I know everything that's going on and who to talk to for help about everything. I like to make sure everyone new feels welcome and will go out and talk to people that seem to be alone and try to encourage them to do things and not feel lonely.
Me and Xion got back to Oshawa in time to get to the furmeet. We're now up to 6 regulars at the meet as we've been finding new furs, and some are comming there from school. We told a lot of stories about Feral! and made everyone envious and wish they went too. I know people complain about the price, but really, you're getting a lot for it too. How many cons are there where someone will teach you how to sail and take you out on a lake with them, for example.
